CHANGE & MAKE THE WORLD BETTER

History of ISBHA

ISBHA (International Society for Better Health Access) was founded in 2004.  ISBHA’s activities started in 2002, prior to its formal registration as a 501 C.  The initial focus of the organization was to provide health care primarily focused on HIV, Palliative care/Hospice, and general care for women and children wherever there was an identified need.

Over the past 20 years, ISBHA in partnership with the community in Fresno, CA, has provided services to women’s HIV support groups, care at homeless shelters, and developed a cultural competency and poverty medicine curriculum with the UCSF program.  The ISBHA team was also involved in assisting with the initial ART rollout in Africa and completed a needs assessment for Hospice care in Ethiopia in collaboration with Hospice Africa.

Food security

ISBHA is preparing a proposal for various projects to ensure food security in Sudan with plan to scale up to serve Tigray once the corridors to Sudan open

Energy efficiency

ISBHA identified a great gap in the availability of cooking energy.  We are currently working on pilot projects preparing energy efficient “megogo” and cooking centers that can run electric pans using solar energy…

Women empowerment

ISBHA is working in collaboration with other organizations and interested individuals to create an organized and centralized system to provide support to survivors of gender-based violence and at-risk women…

Elementary school

ISBHA started the school in Hasheba and is currently seeking to improve the quality of education and services available to students and teachers

Get to know our happiness team

ISBHA is currently considering a nutrition enhancement program.  At this time, students prioritize school supplies and materials in lieu of dietary supplement.  We believe honoring the students perceived need and request will further empower them and normalize their experience in the school.  We have a team assessing accessibility and cost of appropriate supplements like protein bars/protein biscuits and milk during their break.  We would also like to provide support activities such as sports, art, music and drama
